Folimat

What is Folimat?

Folimat is a fungicide used to control fungal diseases in crops and ornamental plants. It contains the active ingredient metalaxyl, which targets the fungal cell wall and inhibits the growth of pathogens such as downy mildew, blight, and other root rot diseases. It is commonly applied to vegetables, fruit crops, and flowers to prevent significant crop loss due to fungal infections.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Metalaxyl, the active ingredient in Folimat, can cause allergic reactions or sensitivities in some individuals. Common symptoms of exposure include skin irritation, eye discomfort, respiratory issues such as coughing and wheezing, and headaches. Prolonged exposure to fungicides like Folimat may also contribute to more serious health concerns, including liver damage or neurological problems. People with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or those with chemical sensitivities are at higher risk of adverse reactions.

What can I do about it?

To minimize exposure to Folimat, always wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles when applying the fungicide. Ensure the application area is well-ventilated and avoid direct contact with the skin or eyes. For those sensitive to chemicals, consider using natural alternatives like sulfur or neem oil, which have fewer health risks.
