Ginger

What is Ginger?

Ginger essential oil is steam-distilled from the rhizome of the Zingiber officinale plant. Known for its warm, spicy, and slightly woody aroma, this oil is often used to support digestion, relieve nausea, and soothe sore muscles. In aromatherapy, ginger essential oil is valued for its energizing and grounding properties, helping to uplift mood and increase focus.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Ginger essential oil may cause intolerance due to its potent gingerol and shogaol content, which can be too strong for sensitive skin or respiratory systems. Some individuals might experience irritation or mild allergic reactions when exposed to high concentrations of the oil, especially when applied directly to the skin.

What can I do about it?

To reduce sensitivity, dilute ginger essential oil well before use or limit the amount you use in diffusers. Gentler alternatives like cardamom or turmeric essential oils offer similar digestive and warming benefits but may be less irritating for sensitive individuals.
