What is Rubigan?
Rubigan is a systemic fungicide used to control fungal diseases, particularly in fruit crops such as apples, grapes, and other vegetables. It is highly effective against diseases like powdery mildew, gray mold, and rust. Rubigan works by penetrating the plant tissues and inhibiting the growth of fungal pathogens, thus preventing their spread and minimizing damage to the crop.
Why do I have an intolerance?
The active ingredient in Rubigan, triflumizole, can cause a variety of adverse reactions in sensitive individuals. Skin irritation, eye discomfort, and respiratory issues are common upon exposure to the chemical. Inhalation of Rubigan’s fumes or prolonged skin contact may cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, and allergic reactions. People with asthma or chemical sensitivities are more likely to experience exacerbated symptoms.
What can I do about it?
To reduce exposure, always wear protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and a face mask when applying Rubigan. It’s crucial to follow the manufacturer's application instructions to minimize contact with the skin or eyes. For those with chemical sensitivities, consider opting for organic fungicides, such as sulfur-based treatments, or using preventative measures like crop rotation to reduce fungal issues without resorting to chemical applications.
