Lemon
What is Lemon?
Lemon essential oil, extracted from the rind of Citrus limon, has a bright, zesty aroma. It is renowned for its uplifting and refreshing qualities, commonly used in cleaning products and aromatherapy to boost mood and promote mental clarity. Lemon oil also has antimicrobial properties, making it effective for purifying the air.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Intolerance to lemon oil can result from its high levels of limonene, which can cause skin sensitivity or allergic reactions in some individuals, especially when exposed to sunlight after application.
What can I do about it?
To avoid skin irritation, dilute lemon oil with a carrier oil when using it topically. In aromatherapy, it can be diffused or inhaled in small amounts to enjoy its benefits without discomfort. Always avoid direct sunlight on areas where lemon oil is applied.
