Apple ( Honey Crisp)
What is Honey Crisp apples?
Honey Crisp apples are a popular variety known for their explosive sweetness and crisp texture. The fruit has a mottled red and yellow peel and is often enjoyed fresh due to its juicy, balanced flavor and resistance to browning.
Why do I have an intolerance to it?
Similar to other apples, Honey Crisp may cause intolerance due to cross-reactivity with birch pollen proteins. This leads to mild allergic reactions, like tingling or itching in the mouth, as the immune system confuses apple proteins with pollen allergens.
What can I do about it?
Peeling the apple or cooking it in pies or sauces can minimize allergic reactions. If symptoms continue, avoiding the fruit from the diet.
