Banvel

What is Banvel?

Banvel is a broad-spectrum herbicide used to control both broadleaf and woody weeds. It is primarily used in agriculture, lawns, and landscapes to prevent unwanted plant growth that competes with crops and desirable plants. Banvel contains the active ingredient dicamba, which targets plant growth hormones, causing weeds to die.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Dicamba, the active ingredient in Banvel, can cause skin irritation, eye discomfort, and respiratory issues if not handled properly. Individuals who are sensitive to herbicides may experience symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, or allergic reactions, including rashes or difficulty breathing. Prolonged exposure may also lead to more serious health effects, such as liver damage and neurological issues.

What can I do about it?

To reduce the risks associated with Banvel, wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves, goggles, and a mask during application. Apply the product in well-ventilated areas and avoid skin or eye contact. For those with sensitivities, organic or natural alternatives, such as vinegar-based herbicides or manual weed removal, may be a safer option.
