Basudin/Geaspon
What is Basudin/Geaspon?
Basudin (also known as Geaspon in some regions) is an insecticide that contains the active ingredient diazinon. It is primarily used for controlling a wide range of pests in agricultural settings, including aphids, fleas, ants, and other insects that damage crops, plants, and lawns. It works by disrupting the nervous system of insects, ultimately causing their death.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Diazinon, the active ingredient in Basudin/Geaspon, is known to be a potent neurotoxin that can affect humans as well as pests. Exposure to this chemical can cause a variety of symptoms, including skin irritation, headaches, dizziness, nausea, and respiratory distress. Long-term exposure to diazinon has been linked to neurological damage, hormone disruption, and an increased risk of cancer. Individuals with sensitivities or respiratory issues are particularly at risk.
What can I do about it?
To minimize the risk of exposure, always wear protective gloves, goggles, and a mask when using Basudin/Geaspon. Apply the product in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling the fumes. If you are concerned about chemical sensitivities, consider using alternative pest control methods, such as organic insecticides or introducing beneficial insects that prey on pests naturally.
