Brown Rice (Without Gluten)

What is Brown rice?

Brown rice is a whole grain that retains its bran and germ layers, giving it a chewy texture and nutty flavor. It is less processed than white rice, making it a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Why do I have an intolerance to Brown rice?

Intolerance to brown rice can occur due to several factors. It might be related to a sensitivity to certain compounds in rice, such as phytic acid or lectins, which can cause digestive discomfort in some individuals. Additionally, brown rice contains more fiber than white rice, which can be irritating to people with sensitive digestive systems or conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

What can I do about it?

If you experience intolerance to brown rice, try and eliminate it from your diet for at least 6 - 8 weeks. Reducing portion sizes and gradually increasing fiber intake can also help your digestive system adjust.
