Cedarwood Atlas

What is Cedarwood Atlas?

Cedarwood Atlas essential oil comes from the wood of the Cedrus atlantica tree, native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It has a woody, grounding aroma and is commonly used in relaxation blends, as well as in hair and skincare products due to its soothing and balancing properties. Its warm, earthy scent is also favored in natural colognes.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Intolerance to Cedarwood Atlas oil may arise from its rich sesquiterpene content, which can sometimes cause respiratory or skin sensitivities in people prone to reactions from woody essential oils. Those with sensitivities to aromatic wood oils like sandalwood might also find Cedarwood Atlas similarly irritating.

What can I do about it?

If this oil causes discomfort, consider using sandalwood or frankincense as gentler alternatives, as they provide similar grounding effects. Diluting the oil heavily with a carrier oil or reducing usage frequency can help manage sensitivity. Limiting its application to diffusion may also help minimize irritation.
