Corn Flour (Without Gluten)
What is Corn flour?
Corn flour is a fine powder made by grinding dried corn kernels. It is commonly used in cooking and baking to make products like tortillas, cornbread, and various baked goods. Corn flour can be either white or yellow, depending on the type of corn used.
Why do I have an intolerance to Corn flour?
An intolerance to corn flour may be due to an inability to digest certain proteins or carbohydrates in corn such as zein, globulins or albumins. This can cause symptoms such as bloating, gas, and abdominal pain. Unlike a food allergy, which triggers an immune response, food intolerance is related to digestive issues.
What can I do about it?
If you suspect a corn flour intolerance, eliminate it from your diet and monitor symptoms. Read labels carefully to avoid hidden sources of corn in processed foods.
