Chromium

What is Chromium and where is it found?

Chromium is a trace metal essential for glucose metabolism and insulin function. Naturally, chromium is found in foods such as meats, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. It also occurs in industrial settings, in the form of chromium compounds used in steel production, dyes, and preservatives.

Why do I have an inflammatory reaction to Chromium?

Inflammatory reactions to chromium can occur due to hypersensitivity or allergic responses, particularly to chromium compounds used in industry. Prolonged exposure to high levels of chromium, especially hexavalent chromium, can cause inflammation and other health issues, which is found in electronics, textiles, dyes, and stainless steel products.

What can I do about it?

Minimize exposure by avoiding industrial environments with high chromium levels and using protective equipment if necessary.
