E132 Indigotine
What is E132 or Indigotine?
E132, also called Indigotine, is a synthetic blue dye derived from indigo. It's commonly used in sweets, beverages, and certain bakery items to create a deep blue color. Indigotine is often found in combination with other dyes to create different hues.
Why do I have an intolerance?
People with intolerance to Indigotine may react to its chemical composition, which can cause allergic reactions or gastrointestinal disturbances. Some may experience skin irritations, headaches, or respiratory issues when consuming foods colored with this dye.
What can I do about it?
If you experience symptoms linked to E132, it’s wise to steer clear of products containing synthetic blue dyes. Look for natural blue colorants like spirulina or blueberry extracts, and focus on whole foods that don’t require artificial coloring.
