E150C Caramel III
What is E150C Caramel III?
E150C, also known as Ammonia Caramel, is a caramel colorant created by heating sugar with ammonia compounds. It is frequently used in cola drinks, sauces, and some beers to provide a rich brown color. This food dye is slightly more processed than E150A and E150B.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Ammonia caramel can cause intolerance in people who are sensitive to ammonia-derived compounds. These compounds may trigger allergic-like reactions such as digestive issues, respiratory problems, or skin irritation. The ammonia process can also result in by-products that are harder for the body to break down.
What can I do about it?
To manage symptoms, avoid products that list E150C or Ammonia Caramel on the label. Many companies offer caramel-free or naturally colored alternatives. Opting for products with clean labels, free from synthetic additives, can help prevent intolerance-related reactions.
