E712 Flavomycin
What is Flavomycin (E712)?
Flavomycin, also known as bambermycin, is an antibiotic mainly used as a growth promoter in animal feed. It targets specific bacterial strains that can affect animal health, improving the efficiency of livestock farming. Flavomycin is not commonly used in human medicine, but it plays a role in animal agriculture.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Intolerance to flavomycin can occur due to prolonged exposure, either through diet or environmental contact, leading to allergic reactions or digestive issues. Symptoms such as nausea, headaches, or skin irritation may indicate sensitivity to flavomycin. Ingesting meat from animals treated with flavomycin might trigger these effects in sensitive individuals.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance, limit consumption of animal products from sources that use flavomycin in feed. Opt for organic or antibiotic-free meat and dairy products. Reducing exposure to processed foods with additives might also help alleviate symptoms.
