Helichrysum Gymnocephalum
What is Helichrysum Gymnocephalum?
Helichrysum gymnocephalum essential oil is derived from the flowering tops of the Helichrysum gymnocephalum plant. It has a sharp, herbaceous scent with camphor-like undertones and is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and expectorant properties. This oil is often used in respiratory blends to clear congestion and promote easier breathing, as well as in skincare to reduce inflammation and soothe minor irritations.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Intolerance to helichrysum gymnocephalum essential oil may occur due to its high cineole content, which can be irritating for individuals with sensitive skin or respiratory systems. The camphor-like components can be too harsh for some people, leading to irritation or discomfort, especially when used in concentrated forms.
What can I do about it?
If you experience sensitivity, dilute the oil well before topical use or reduce its concentration in diffusers. Alternatively, consider using a gentler respiratory oil like eucalyptus or tea tree, which provide similar decongesting and antibacterial benefits but tend to be less harsh on sensitive individuals.
