Lavender, Spike

What is Spike lavender?

Spike lavender essential oil is derived from the flowers of the Lavandula latifolia plant. Known for its strong, camphoraceous scent, it has distinct therapeutic properties that are often utilized for stress relief, relaxation, and respiratory support. Spike lavender oil is typically more potent than regular lavender oil, making it suitable for a variety of applications, including muscle relaxation and easing headaches.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Some individuals may experience intolerance to spike lavender oil due to its higher camphor content, which can cause skin irritation or respiratory discomfort. Those sensitive to aromatic compounds might find the strong scent overwhelming, leading to headaches or nausea.

What can I do about it?

To mitigate potential reactions, dilute spike lavender oil with a carrier oil before applying it to the skin. Inhalation should be done cautiously; using it in a diffuser at lower concentrations can help reduce sensitivity. Blending with gentler oils, like sweet lavender or chamomile, can also soften its intensity.
