Lemon Petitgrain
What is Lemon Petitgrain?
Lemon petitgrain essential oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium). It has a fresh, herbaceous aroma with subtle citrus notes, often used for its calming effects in aromatherapy. This oil is known for its ability to alleviate stress and anxiety while promoting mental clarity.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Intolerance may occur due to its high content of linalool and other terpenes, which can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Those with sensitivities to citrus or similar aromatic plants may also react adversely.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance, dilute lemon petitgrain oil in a carrier oil for topical applications. When using it in a diffuser, start with lower concentrations to assess tolerance, and consider blending with other calming oils, like chamomile, for a milder scent.
