Marjoram

What is Marjoram?

Marjoram essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the Origanum majorana plant. With a warm, herbaceous aroma, marjoram oil is known for its calming and soothing effects. It is often used in aromatherapy to relieve stress, tension, and anxiety. Additionally, marjoram has anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful for muscle relief and promoting restful sleep.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Intolerance to marjoram oil may occur due to its high content of various phenolic compounds, which can lead to skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Those with allergies to other herbs in the same family may also react negatively.

What can I do about it?

To minimize the risk of irritation, dilute marjoram oil with a carrier oil before applying it to the skin. When diffusing, start with lower concentrations to assess tolerance, and consider blending it with other calming oils like lavender or frankincense to enhance its soothing effects.
