My protease came back as a "high imbalance". Does that mean I have too much or too little of that enzyme?
That means that there may be a deficit with this enzyme. · Protease is used to digest protein. Protease is produced in the stomach, pancreas, and small intestine. It may be that your diet is too protein-rich, or there may be inflammation with the stomach, pancreas, and small intestine (due to consumption of the "red" listed foods) amongst many other reasons such as already diagnosed medical conditions from your medical professional. If you have no diagnosed medical conditions in these areas then you may wish to revert back to the inflammation caused by consuming the foods listed in red or orange.
What to do about it: You may wish to chew your food more thoroughly before swallowing so that protease has time to be produced in the mouth. You may also wish to decrease your protein consumption by 10% and replace it with more vegetables/fruits or plant-based proteins which can be easier to digest. You may also wish to opt for a digestive enzyme supplement containing protease.
