Olibanum
What is Olibanum?
Olibanum, commonly known as frankincense, is an essential oil obtained from the resin of the Boswellia sacra tree, primarily found in the Arabian Peninsula. This oil is cherished for its rich, woody aroma and is often associated with spiritual practices, meditation, and relaxation. In aromatherapy, Olibanum promotes feelings of tranquility and emotional balance.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Individuals may experience intolerance to Olibanum due to its resinous compounds, which can irritate sensitive skin or trigger allergic reactions. Additionally, its strong aroma may be overwhelming for those with respiratory sensitivities.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance to Olibanum, avoid applying it directly to the skin and use it in well-ventilated areas. If inhalation causes discomfort, try using it in a diffuser at lower concentrations. Blending Olibanum with softer oils like lavender or myrrh can help create a more balanced aromatic experience while reducing the likelihood of irritation.
