Preeglone
What is Preeglone?
Preeglone is a fungicide used to control diseases like rust, powdery mildew, and blight in crops such as fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants. It contains prochloraz as its active ingredient, which works by inhibiting the growth of fungi at various stages of their life cycle. Preeglone is typically applied to prevent or reduce fungal infections in both agriculture and horticulture.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Prochloraz, the active ingredient in Preeglone, can cause skin irritation, eye discomfort, and respiratory issues in sensitive individuals. Prolonged exposure to Preeglone can lead to headaches, dizziness, nausea, and allergic reactions, including rashes and difficulty breathing. People with asthma or a history of chemical sensitivities may experience heightened reactions to the fungicide.
What can I do about it?
To avoid adverse reactions, always wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles when handling Preeglone. Apply it in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling the spray. If you are particularly sensitive, consider using alternative fungicides, such as those based on sulfur or copper, which are generally considered safer for both the environment and human health.
