Rhododendron
What is Rhododendron?
Rhododendron essential oil is derived from the leaves of the Rhododendron anthopogon plant, native to the Himalayas. It has a soft, floral, and slightly woodsy scent, known for its grounding and calming properties. In aromatherapy, Rhododendron is used to promote emotional balance and support respiratory health.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Some individuals may experience an intolerance to Rhododendron oil due to its complex chemical profile, which can cause skin sensitivity or allergic reactions. People with sensitivities to florals may find its aroma triggering, leading to mild respiratory discomfort.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance to Rhododendron, avoid direct application and dilute it with a carrier oil before using on the skin. Diffusing in moderation or blending with complementary oils like lavender or cedarwood can create a gentler aromatic experience. Limiting exposure and using lower concentrations can help reduce sensitivity.
