Rock Rose

What is Rock Rose?

Rock Rose essential oil, also known as Cistus, is derived from the Cistus ladanifer plant. It has a rich, resinous, and slightly sweet aroma with grounding and calming properties. Traditionally, Rock Rose has been used in skincare for its regenerative effects and in aromatherapy for stress relief and emotional balance.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Intolerance to Rock Rose oil may arise from its dense, resinous compounds, which can cause skin sensitivity or respiratory discomfort in some individuals. Those with sensitivities to strong, earthy scents may find Rock Rose overpowering and experience headaches or nausea.

What can I do about it?

To manage intolerance to Rock Rose oil, dilute it significantly with a carrier oil if applying to the skin. In aromatherapy, use it sparingly in a well-ventilated space or blend it with softer oils like chamomile or frankincense to mellow its intensity. Using it in minimal quantities can still allow you to benefit from its properties without overwhelming your senses.
