Sage, Spanish
What is Spanish Sage?
Spanish Sage essential oil, derived from the Salvia lavandulifolia plant, has a fresh, herbaceous aroma with mild camphoraceous undertones. It is commonly used in aromatherapy for mental clarity, concentration, and mood balance. Spanish Sage is also utilized in skincare and massage blends for its soothing properties.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Spanish Sage contains camphor and 1,8-cineole, which can cause skin irritation and respiratory sensitivity in some individuals. People with sensitivities to camphorous or eucalyptus-like scents may experience adverse reactions to Spanish Sage’s strong aroma.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance to Spanish Sage, avoid applying it directly on the skin and ensure it is well-diluted in a carrier oil. Use it in small amounts in a diffuser or blend it with softer oils, like lavender or sweet orange, to create a more subtle scent profile. Shortening the exposure time can also help reduce potential irritation.
