Shield/Guild
What is Shield/Guild?
Shield/Guild is a fungicide that offers protection against a wide variety of fungal diseases in crops, particularly those in orchards and vineyards. The product works by disrupting the cell membranes of fungi, preventing them from growing and causing harm to the plants.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Shield/Guild contains active ingredients like fludioxonil or cyprodinil, which can cause skin irritation, eye discomfort, and respiratory issues if inhaled. Sensitive individuals may experience allergic reactions, including rashes, coughing, sneezing, or even more severe symptoms like dizziness, nausea, or shortness of breath. Long-term exposure to these chemicals could lead to more serious health effects, including liver or kidney damage.
What can I do about it?
To minimize exposure to Shield/Guild, always wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety goggles, and a face mask when applying the product. Ensure that the area is well-ventilated and avoid contact with your skin or eyes. For those sensitive to chemicals, alternative organic fungicides, such as copper sulfate or neem oil, may be safer options.
