Spruce, Black
What is Black Spruce?
Black Spruce essential oil comes from the Picea mariana tree, native to North America. It has a rich, fresh, and grounding aroma that is often used to relieve stress, improve focus, and support respiratory health. Black Spruce is popular in aromatherapy and massage blends, where it is prized for its calming and muscle-relaxing properties.
Why do I have an intolerance?
Some individuals may experience intolerance to Black Spruce oil due to its high concentration of terpenes like alpha-pinene, which can cause skin sensitivity or mild respiratory irritation. The strong, pine-like aroma may also overwhelm those sensitive to intense woodsy scents.
What can I do about it?
To manage intolerance to Black Spruce, dilute it with a carrier oil when applying topically to minimize skin reactions. When diffusing, use it in small quantities or mix with gentler oils like lavender to soften its intensity. Reducing exposure time and using it in well-ventilated spaces can also make it easier to tolerate.
