Tulsi

What is Tulsi?

Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, is an essential oil derived from the Ocimum sanctum plant. Revered in Ayurvedic practices, Tulsi has a warm, spicy, and slightly sweet aroma, known for its adaptogenic properties that help the body manage stress. It is used to support respiratory health, relieve headaches, and improve mental clarity.

Why do I have an intolerance?

Intolerance to Tulsi may occur due to its eugenol content, which can cause skin sensitivity or mild respiratory irritation. Its strong, spicy scent may also be too intense for some, leading to headaches or discomfort when inhaled in high concentrations.

What can I do about it?

To manage intolerance to Tulsi, dilute it well with a carrier oil before applying topically. In aromatherapy, blend it with lighter oils such as lavender or citrus to balance its scent. Using it in a well-ventilated space and reducing exposure time can help make its therapeutic benefits more accessible for sensitive individuals.
