Why Magnesium Deficiency Occurs?

Magnesium deficiency can occur due to several factors. Poor dietary intake is a primary cause, especially when diets lack magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains. Gastrointestinal disorders, such as Crohn's disease and celiac disease, can impair absorption. Chronic alcoholism, type 2 diabetes, and certain medications, including diuretics and proton pump inhibitors, can also deplete magnesium levels.
